Love or hate Google, their announcement is exciting news. Google Chrome OS doesn’t promise anything that hasn’t been thought of before but like with most Google products we can expect something good.

I’ve written this short guide for people like my father that have little understanding (and interest) in technology. People who just want things that are simple and that work, which is not case with his old Dell. If Google Chrome OS delivers on its promise than I think he should get it (saving me hours worth of ‘IT support’ time in the process).

About his guide

I wrote the About Chrome OS articles so that someone who is completely ignorant of the subject matter can understand what it’s about in less than 5 minute, starting from the What is Google Chrome OS? article. The Information & Resources pages will include news, comments and links to sites that will, undoubtedly, provide much more information and insight.

These are the core articles of the guide. I will be adding more information as it becomes available.

An architxt.net ‘Special Feature’

This is also an exercise in developing a model for my main website – architxt.net – that includes ‘special features’ covering topics I am interested in. Today I talk about Google Chrome OS and tomorrow I may well talk about snooze features on alarm clocks.

And I’ve always wanted to publish a ‘Special Feature’ like you get on CNN or the BBC :)

So, exciting times lie ahead. Or rather, some long exciting times lie ahead given Google Chrome OS will only be launching in the second half of 2010.
